Key stages 1-5

Key stage 4

At key stage 4, our provision supports students to achieve qualifications that enable them to progress onto positive pathways post-16. Whether through alternative provision, revision programmes, intervention, Level 1 and 2 functional skills, or full GCSEs, students are supported to achieve their potential, access education on a par with their peers, and pursue and raise their aspirations.

Our key stage 4 provision is designed for students who require alternative provision, targeted intervention, or revision support. We ensure that every student has access to the qualifications they need to move forward with confidence and purpose.

Students we support

We put the student at the heart of everything we do and empower them to learn in a safe and secure online environment, with qualified teachers in live lessons. Labels might lead students to Tute, but we see beyond them here.

All are welcome.

Curriculums

Virtual School

The Virtual School is used as short-term alternative provision for students needing stability, transition support, or temporary access to education, including those between placements, following exclusion, or unable to attend school.

It offers a broad, timetabled curriculum aligned with national standards, ensuring students continue their core GCSE studies without disruption, while partners meet their statutory obligations.

Courses (fixed timetable)

At key stage 4, Tute’s Shared and Private Courses provide flexible, accredited education for a range of needs.

Shared Courses offer a comprehensive alternative provision model that delivers GCSE and functional skills qualifications through structured, longer-term teaching.

Private Courses support schools and local authorities to meet EHCP requirements or add specialist subjects where recruitment or in-house delivery is difficult, ensuring every student can access the qualifications they need.

Tute Go

At key stage 4, Tute Go provides GCSE intervention, revision, and curriculum support for students needing adaptable, high-quality teaching.

It complements in-school learning or forms part of a blended alternative provision plan, following or adapting Tute’s scheme of learning to meet students’ needs.

Learning programmes

A Tute Learning Programme delivers one-to-one, high-quality teaching for children who need flexible or alternative ways to access learning, including those supported by an EHCP.

Lessons are highly individualised, supporting learning, communication, and confidence through an adaptable, personalised scheme of learning.

They provide a personalised approach that supports engagement, confidence, and continuity for pupils who benefit from individual attention.

Curriculum approach

Intent

In collaboration with partners, we’ve tailored our provision to meet the needs of students while aligning with partner budgets and priorities.

Implementation

Students can join Tute’s pre-set provision or partners can create their own customised provision to fit their timetable, curriculum needs, and student requirements.

Impact

We track student progress and engagement in real-time through our platform, with continuous oversight from our impact and evaluation team to ensure meaningful outcomes.

Learning approach

Our key stage 4 lessons are delivered by passionate, qualified teachers who are experts in their field. They use a range of methods to assess each student’s performance, skill level, and knowledge development in every lesson. This approach ensures that our provision is adaptable to both short and long-term needs, enabling partners to make the best choices for their students based on individual requirements.
