Kate McCombe

I am a qualified teacher with over 14 years’ experience in education, including senior leadership in a SEMH residential setting. My background spans working directly with students who have complex needs that mainstream settings often struggle to meet, including those looked after by our care system. This hands-on experience has given me a comprehensive understanding of the unique challenges these students face, the support they require and the quality of provision they need and deserve to fulfil their potential. 

In my previous role as a commissioner of alternative provision, I gained valuable insights into the priorities and constraints of those who commission AP, enabling me to truly appreciate and help address their needs. Since joining Tute a decade ago, I’ve drawn on this experience to enhance our mission to deliver high-quality, impactful alternative provision, ensuring that we can effectively partner with local authorities, schools, and non-mainstream settings to make a positive difference in students’ lives.

As head of partner engagement at Tute, I’m frequently the first point of contact for our commissioners, working closely with them to understand their unique challenges and goals. In today’s educational landscape, where partners must accomplish more with limited resources, I’m committed to presenting Tute’s flexible, high-impact solutions that address these demands. I take pride in driving Tute’s core value of partnership – listening, adapting, and supporting commissioners to meet their objectives. I also manage our partner engagement specialist and collaborate across Tute’s teams to ensure our offerings are tailored and impactful, delivering meaningful education for every student.
